Ravioli Filling with Sausage, Mushrooms, Spinach and More!
1 pound hot Italian sausage
1 medium yellow onion
1 large yellow bell pepper
1 pound sliced mushrooms
1 tsp sea salt
1 tsp garlic
fresh ground black pepper to taste
1 cup Ricotta cheese
1 tsp minced garlic
1 handful fresh organic baby spinach
1/2 cup parmesan-romano cheese
2 tbsp milled golden flaxseed
Cook sausage, onion, pepper, and mushrooms in skillet over medium heat. Add sea salt, garlic powder and fresh ground black pepper at the same time you add in the mushrooms. Once fully cooked remove from heat and let cool.
In food processor combine ricotta, minced garlic and organic baby spinach.
Add half of meat mixture to cheese and spinach mixture. Add in parmesan-romano cheese and milled golden flax. Food process well.
Now you have the completed filling for some wonderful homemade ravioli. You could also use filling in shells or Manicotti.
The question is: What do I do with the other half of the meat mixture? I plan on making some homemade spaghetti sauce with mine. If you don’t want to go all out and make sauce from scratch you can use a jar pasta sauce and just add your meat mixture to it for added flavor and texture.
